Terms of Service
Last updated: June 25, 2026
The short version: Birdie is a free, open-source app made with care and offered as-is. Please use it kindly, treat it as a helpful nudge rather than a guarantee, and know that your Google data is handled per our Privacy Policy.
1. Agreement
By downloading or using Birdie, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Birdie. These Terms are between you and Francesca Kim, the maintainer of Birdie ("we," "us"). Questions? Email francescakim22@gmail.com.
2. What Birdie is
Birdie is a free, open-source desktop app that flies a little bird across your screen when a meeting is about to start. It connects to your Google Calendar (read-only) so it knows when to fly. The source code is available under the MIT License.
3. Your license to use it
You may use Birdie for free, for personal or work purposes. The app's source code is licensed under the MIT License, which lets you use, copy, and modify it under that license's terms. The Birdie name, logo, and bird artwork remain ours.
4. Acceptable use
- Don't use Birdie to break the law or to access calendars or accounts that aren't yours.
- Don't attempt to disrupt, overload, or misuse the service or our providers.
- Don't remove or misrepresent ownership of the app or its artwork.
5. Your Google account & other services
Birdie reads your Google Calendar only with your permission and only as described in our Privacy Policy. Your use of Google services is also governed by Google's own terms. You can revoke Birdie's access any time at myaccount.google.com/connections.
6. No warranty
Birdie is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We do our best, but we don't guarantee that Birdie will catch every meeting, run without errors, or be available at all times. Please don't rely on Birdie as your only reminder for anything important — think of it as a delightful backup nudge, not a critical system.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any missed meetings, lost time, or any indirect or incidental damages arising from using (or being unable to use) Birdie. Birdie is free, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for it — which is nothing.
8. Availability & changes
Birdie is offered free of charge with no service-level guarantee. We may update, change, or discontinue the app or this website at any time.
9. Changes to these Terms
If these Terms change, we'll update the date at the top. Continuing to use Birdie after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
10. Contact
